Death Valley alright, but to be exact it is the Badwater Lake area, the salt pools. The sign is there on the roadside saying it is the -282' spot but " the actual lowest point (-282 feet) is located several miles from the road and is not easily accessible to people. "

The North Shore of Alaska. Because the shape of the Earth is that of an oblate spheroid (a sphere slightly flattened towards the poles), the North Shore is nearer the centre of the Earth than the lowest elevation in Death Valley, California.

If you are referring "in the USA" to be the continental U.S.A, then Badwater,Death Valley at 282 ft below sea level is the lowest point on land. However, if you are referring "in the USA" to be the territorial U.S.A., then the lowest point is 19,794 ft. below sea level within the territorial limits of Hawaii. The territorial limit extends 12 nautical miles from shore.
