I am a 22yr old housewife with a 2yr old son. Don't particularly like going out much, and don't want to spend a lot of money. Any ideas would be great?

Baking, cross stitch, photography, interior design.....?
Perhaps take up a free course and study a language?
If you're not already involved, why not try going to the local church toddler clubs and helping out-that way your child can be with you. Do some voluntary work and put something back into the community?

Knitting and crochet can both be great hobbies that are relaxing and give you something substantial out of it. As far as the expense is concerned, you can use cheap yarn from Michaels or Walmart all the way to expensive handspun from local boutique type yarn shops.
Another option that may be especially beneficial to you, considering you have a 2yo son, would be photography. With a decent digital camera you can get some great photos that both gives you a hobby and documents your sons childhood. After the initial cost for the camera, there really isnt a great expense since you're not having to develop film and you're only printing the photos that you want to print. I've found that Walmart does a decent job on prints, as does shutterfly.com, and both are affordable options for photo printing.

I just spent two days with my two year old Grandson ---How on earth do you even have time to go to the bathroom LOL
I would suggest a hobby that you can pick up and lay down quickly easily .
Something that you can pick up and continue without loosing your place of forgetting 'where you were'
Keep in mind that if you get forgetful at any time the Little Fella will most surely get into it , so make it safe.
I used to crochet, draw, paint and even make child safe 'clay' and finger paint to do with my little ones.
I had to make sure that I had a place to 'plop' my projects, that was out of the way of busy little hands( just in case I didn't get back to it )
One time I came back to a drawing and found scribbles all over it . Cute memory now but I had worked so hard on it , and grieved for days!

go to www.homeofpoi.com and check out poi.
If you think you might like it and want a set, buy them from www.sonicstars.com (or .co.uk, cant remember which) who are soooo much cheaper and their customer service rocks.
It's well good fun, it tones your arms and at every party, bbq etc your friends will think your uber cool!!!!
home of poi has video lessons so you can learn the moves for free.
I've been poi-ing for about 3 years now and take them to raves. Last time I went i had a load of people videoing me on thir mobiles. this happens wherever you take them.
You can get some nice flowy tail ones for the daytime too.
also, try ebay for some cheappractise poi, or make your own. I made my 1st set of practise poi with string and tennis balls.
