Im thinking of having a fancy dress party for my birthday..Does anybody have any ideas for a theme I could use?

Fairies & wizards, masquerade ball, tarts & vickers, cave men, princes & princessess, cops and robbers, film stars, music stars, people from history, jobs, clowns, from a decade (i.e 20's, 40's, 70's etc), men as women & women as men, ... there are SO many possibilities.

get every one who you invite to write down a costume or theme them put all the ideas in a 'hat' and get each one to pick out some one else' idea. give them a week to get it ready it more fun than having a theme of say Hollywood - where all the guys turn up as James bond!

What about a shrek theme then everyone has a variety of options as what to come as all the characters in far far away
