I have a friend who will wind up talking all about herself and things concerning her. I used to hate it greatly but lately, I see it as a chance to savour my coffee and cake as she yaps! :p

Sometimes. Other times I will just stare at the zits on their forehead and nod here and there so that they can see that I am still alive and maybe paying attention.

I hate hate, hate it
Am I nothing but a sounding board ?.. People like me. They say I'm a great listener. Yes, I am a good listener, but I also love to talk and have someone listen to me for a change.
And when I change the subject, they jump in with their story and hog that conversation also. Every subject I bring up...it happened to her also .And then she's off and running again.
What should I do?
Sometimes when you delete people from your life, you're left pretty much alone.

Yes. How can it be a conversation if one does all the talking? I'd call that a monologue! There should be more-or-less equal time. Sharing is the thing. Friends/relatives ought to be interested in what the other has to say.

I got used to it because my ex used to do it, but yeah it gets annoying. By the time I find a chance to speak up about a certain topic, it's five topics later and I end up looking like a moron if I say anything. I prefer to just keep my mouth shut these days.

No. I love when people hog the conversation. I don't like talking that much and I think I can give a very convincing "uh-huh".

That's exactly what I do, If they want to talk then let them. I'm sitting there but after they cut me off 100 times I'm not listening. Okay

This one of my pet hates so I start yarn this normally stops them, least for a while anyway.
My other pet hate is some one that buts into a conversation as well...

My boyfriend is an actor... and is always in the lime light, think I prefer to listen and he prefers to jabber on and on and on. I've gotten used to it, took a little time and a little patience :)
