Congress is supposed to be the ONLY people who can make the decision of whether or not to involve our young men and women in an active war, and now you're saying they should "stay out of it?" Do you want to rewrite the Constitution to get rid of checks and balances and give that power to the executive branch too?

And you feel they HAVENT been handcuffed for the last 4 years in Iraq?

You DO know our troops are directed by the Iraqi government right now and have been since the Iraqi government was elected, do you not? They determine missions, US Unit troop strengths, reinforcements, etc. Everything about the missions is up to the Iraqis, not US commanders on the ground. Sure they ADVISE, but that's as far as the influence goes.

It's time for the Iraqis to defend their own coutnry, we never should have started doing that in the first place. It's been 4 years now. The US can take an 18 year old kid with no experience and no discipline and turn him or her into a lean mean killing machine in less than 3 months. The Iraqis have had 4 YEARS NOW. And now I see the Iraqi government is taking the next month off, even though they have not attained ONE benchmark the US has set for them. While our soldiers die, they vacation.

GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR A**. The commander and chief has had a free hand in running this nightmare and see whats it got us nothing. Things are worst now than before the war started. If you saying to follow the same strategy even the troops fighting say that the mission is wrong.

I believe Mr Bush has done a fine job of looking bad on his own. If his administration would not have bungled this war, it would not have come to this. It's a shame because our brave soldiers have done all that was asked.

The democrats could care less if our soldiers lived or died. They care only about political power. The leaders of our country today are cowards. A majority of congress has not served in the active military and think the idea of having their children serve is ridiculous. What we are lacking in our government is true leadership.

Amen. You answered your question. Democrats want to lose the war to use it as ammo in the next election. Maybe "ammo" was not a good choice of words.
