My own family is scattered to the wind so they carry on the traditions within their own families. I can rest easy knowing I taught them well ...about the family traditions.

It depends on how you feel about the family traditions. If you like it and it is important to you, yes you should carry it on. If it is a tradition you do not like, you should still carry it on by way of telling your family. I think it is important to pass the traditions of a family or culture down from generation to generation, but you don't always need to do them. Just make sure they are known.

Some i do but somethings my mom did were a little whack...
New Years - Let the kids stay up and drink Fresca instead of Champaign
Valentines - Give a special Valentine to someone annonmously
Easter - Egg hunting by age
Thanksgiving - To write an Epistle and send it to other family members to read.
Christmas - When unwrapping gifts we always go youngest to oldest, we each take a turn and watch then eat breakfast afterward and put our gifts on our beds for others to look at.
