Dual Core:

Pentium IV is on created on the Net Burst Architecture. Dual Core or the /Pentium D (Presler/Smithfield) is also on Net Burst Architecture. Dual Core gives good performance and has high heat dissipation. But it's a power hungry processor.

Core Duo:

Core Duo (Yonah) has a substantial boost in performance comapred to Dual Core. It needs much less power. Heat dissipation is also less. It is constructed on the Intel Core Architecture, basically designed for lap top computers.

Core 2 Duo:

It's an enhanced Yonah processor. There is a mild boost in performance. But price almost remain same as Yonah. It uses extended Intel Core Architecture. It is used for both Desktop PC and Laptops.
