Goodness. What a lot of ignorant, stupid answers so far.

Evolution is accepted for just the same reasons that any scientific theory is accepted - the enormous amount of evidence in its favour. Same for gravitation, or relativity, or whatever. Exactly the same for why you go to the supermarket to buy milk - because all the evidence points to the fact that supermarkets sell milk.

Amongst the evidence is the fossil record, and the composition of our DNA. Lots, lots more if you want to google the facts, rather than beliefs.

Look at how different you are in height, hair colour, whatever, from your parents. Now extend that same amount of change over millions of years.

We in this age claim to be the most advanced people to walk this earth, and we are ready to say that we came from apes.

Come on.

It is true that every species on the face of this earth has undergone evolution. There is no doubt to this; but, when it comes to humans, we did not evolve directly from apes, but only from a common ancestor. Our evolution is unique.

Think about it. Yes, our DNA is only 2% different than apes, but if you look at the makeup of butter and plastic, they are very similar, yet they serve two totally different purposes!

We as humans can use reason and logic to make rational decisions in our lives. This is not an evolutionary characteristic. No one has been able to understand the human mind for our entire existence. That speaks volumes of our complexity as a species.

Anyways, believing in evolution does not rule out the existence of God. What guided the complex process of evolution? Can you honestly believe that this perfect, magnificently complex nature in which we live was created on its own? Just randomly?

Come on. Albert Einstein once said that we will never know one billionth of one percent of everything. God exists, and every living and nonliving creature underwent evolution as a sign of the perfection of the One true Creator.

Modern day science continues to prove the existence of a Benevolent and Beneficient God. Evolution is one miracle of creation.

By the way...true religion and true science are one with each other. Nothing can be gained solely from reason or science alone. Perfect true revelation descends on mankind to complete his knowledge.

If a particular religion defies academically accepted scientific theories, there is something wrong with it. On the other hand, mankind should seek God in science, which they have unknowingly, rather than try to disprove His existence (which is not possible).

This has been posted as a science question.

Firstly, science does not accept religious dogma: that is, it is sceptical of all preconcieved ideas. Creationism is therefore NOT science, as it disregards good evidence that contradicts religious beliefs.

Secondly, science is mechanistic. Scientists observe something in the real world, try to imagine how it happens, then experiment to try and verify their theory. Religion does not ask such questions. No priest can tell you how God created the world, whereas a physicist can come up with a step-by-step explanation for the creation of the entire universe.

Thirdly: there are always more questions in science. Nothing is definitively proven, but open to more detailed debate and scrutiny.

The simple fact is that evidence of evolution is all around us and it is easily demonstrated by example.
Men had to come from somewhere. Man bears all the hallmarks of an animal that has eveolved. The evidence for this fact is abundant. The scientists that made these discoveries did so with no agenda other than to find the truth.

If you choose to, you may learn more about evolution. I think you will find that you are increasingly convinced that man is indeed descended from primates, who themselves are descended from smaller mammals, and trace our ancestry beyond that back to amphibious fish.

A good place to start would be the very entertaing link below (beware, this man puts a passionate case forward and there are a couple of swears).

Of course, you could choose to simply believe the religious dogma that encourages you not to question, test or think for yourself, lest you discover that you have been lied to by those who would try to control you and profit from your ignorance.

Evolution is a fact. Species exist now that did not exist in the past and their lineage can be traced back to predecessor species.
The theory part is how this occurred. Darwinian natural selection is one mechanism. There are others that have been proposed though most serious ones owe a lot to Darwin.

yes evolution is true. Man evolved from an earlier species of proto-human. Evolution is amazing! Without the ability to evolve all life on Earth would have died out during the periods of climate change.

yes evolution is very true look at the evidents that scientists and other people like me have found that our characteristics are almost the same as many species like at lizards, igguanas, crocs, aligators and other fishes they have so many things in common with each other and very little change only because they have to adapt to their surroundings in oder for them to survive, just like us believe it or not we are consider as part or the animal kingdom weather they want to believe or not

actually, the answer depends on you. If you are faithful then I shall say that God created everything in this world even mankind, but if you are so realistic and you want explanations on everything you see then i could say that you should believe in Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.

Man arose because all the competition either died out or stopped competing with us.

Man went through a gradual evolutionary change, from ape-like to modern human. Here are a few of our ancestors :

Sahelanthropus tchadensis. 6 to 7 million years ago
Ardipithecus ramidus - 5 to 4 million years ago
Australopithecus afarensis - 4 to 2.7 million years ago
Australopithecus africanus - 3.0 to 2.0 million years ago
Australopithecus robustus - 2.2 to 1.0 million years ago
Homo habilis - 2.2 to 1.6 million years ago
Homo erectus - 2 to 0.4 million years ago
Homo sapiens - 400,000 to 200,000 years ago
(Homo neandertalensis - 200,000 to 30,000 years ago)
Homo sapiens sapiens - 130,000 years ago to present

it's such a philosophical question.. take a philosophy class and you'll cover different theories that would agree and disagree with it..

I am one for Creationism, so I would say no. Evolution is a scientific theory, that despite what its proponents may say, was never even whole-heartedly accepted as the natural order of things by Darwin himself. Like most scientific theories, it can be refuted.
