To Doug-1 and others, that is the point, the McCanns HAVEN'T gone door to door looking for their daughter - they haven't done anything except generate a lot of publicity for us to donate to their "limited company" Kate didn't leave that apartment/resort for something like 3 weeks after Madeleine disappeared. If that was me, I'd be scouring the streets and hammering on doors until I could no longer stand up.
The only effort Gerry has made is to jet-set back and forth making sure the business is all running smooth to receive the donations, donations that were given in the belief they were to help SEARCH for Madeleine.
So, it wouldn't surprise me if they appeared on tv next asking for £3 per month or whatever, money is all that seems to motivate them.

I think what he is trying to say is that he doesn't wish any harm on the girl and hopes she gets re-united but I am in agreement to the extent that hypothetically if they were doing a give £3 a month appeal or something on TV I would not be handing my money over. As stated earlier thousands of poor young children disappear every year. It shouldn't be a charity thing; the government should get to grips and Police this country better and the same goes for every country. This involves them funding it not us! Agreed?

Perhaps they could follow the road taken by Neil and Christine Hamilton. They will do anything, however bizarre, for money!
The McCanns will definitely need more money soon. I don't suppose the NHS will continue to pay their salaries if they are not returning to the UK. Will they be able to draw British unemployment benefit etc in Portugal? Or will they claim on the long suffering Portuguese? I'd love to know.

They have announced that they are not coming back and intend staying in Portugal. The uncle has said that there are big bills coming in for accomm/flights etc etc and that they will need all the fund money. The Mccanns must assume that the public are going to pay for this if they are planning to stay in Portugal and run up more bills. I think the money would be better spent on looking for Madeleine.

I'm sure I already saw an advert on tv dedicated to Maddie. Can't remember if it was asking for money or just an appeal. I just had to look away because it's so sad they had to resort to that.

i have already seen an advert for Madeleine and the fund on tv, and to be honest was a bit taken aback and in all truth pi$$ed me off!!

to make it clear, it pissed me off that they had made an advert asking for money - not high lighting her disappearance


it was on cable - UK Gold channel around 2 - 3 weeks ago, not asking to donate monthly but stating that you could donate to the fund via pen pal.

has anyone else seen this?

It is tragic wjat happened, but personally I wouldn't leave my child alone for 2 minutes... even if it was a mark warner resort and she is 5.
It annoys me that they are getting so much coverage, when thousands of children go missing all the time.
I do hope to God she is safe and being treated well.

They now have a poster in every shop and window where the potter books are selling ..
...this is not unusual for the U.S. or for the Austrailians but for the U.K. it is and this is mainly to do with contacts and so on which they seem to be very well endowed...this is not about Madelaine but about them...
