I guess so, I'm from America, and I personally believe that he's just one of those advice givers that's looking to get rich. He got his start with Oprah.

^Dr. Phil is very real, when Oprah Winfrey was sued years ago by the cattle ranches association, for her comment about beef, Dr. Phil counseled her and helped her win the case. Oprah started having Dr. Phil on her TV show and eventually he so good he got his own program. You didn't say whether you like the show or not. I do, he makes a lot of sense and can be very funny at times. I remember when this played out I was and am a fan of Oprah's and now also a fan of Dr. Phil.
One of my favorite Phil-isms is Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you. If you need a translation it means don't let the door hit you in the a s s on the way out.lol

He's real. His methods are often criticized by his peers. He focuses on behavior modification to solve issues. Most psychologists focus on the "why" a person behaves a certain way. His methods are often described as "simplistic." Guests on his show must sign a release form that states that they can't sue "Dr. Phil" if the advice he gives backfires on them or doesn't help their problem. Makes a great TV show though, huh?

Dr Phil McGraw is a licensed clinical psychologist; he was a frequent guest on the Oprah show (apparently she hired him when she was being sued for a remark on her show which the beef industry found threatening), and her company, Harpo, produces his show.
