Are aspidistras easy to grow?

They are almost bullet proof.

One of their common names is 'cast iron plant' (aspidistra elatior)
They can tolerate total shade and they go great in dark indoor conditions with infrequent watering.

Sometimes they get mildew or bugs on them but you can just put them out in the rain for a few days and it cleans them up.

Tough-as-nails cast-iron plant is an excellent low-maintenance ground cover in dry shady places where they are able to compete even with tree roots and still look beautiful.
Usage
Aspidistra is often grown in a container as a porch or patio plant, or as a house plant. In landscapes, it can be used as a border or be planted in a drift around trees, or to fill a planter under an overhang.
Propagate by division of clumps at any time of year, but it's best to do it in the spring. Transplant the divisions a little deeper than originally growing.
