I am not living in fear of being blown up I live in a small town in the UK that isn't important enough to be blown up
I watch the news just to keep up to date with whats going on in the world, I think everyone should
Ignorance is bliss but knowledge is power.

I like to watch to see how many mistakes my regional STV North Tonight makes when they are on air. I find it hilarious. The presenters are always so good natured and cover up the boobs made by the back room boys.... like the professionals there are.
I also like to watch the evening news as I need to keep in touch with the world and what is happening to my fellow human beings. Whilst many of the news items can be dismissed as plugging the gaps so to speak I think that we have an excellent news service in the UK with the broadcaster working hard and making every effort to ensure what they report is accurate and delivered with panache.
Well done all of you that bring us new reports from all over the globe. Many reports delivered in face of great odds and personal danger to themselves and the crews.
PS I also like listening to Chris Evans....his programme on Radio 2 is like a news cast in it's self.

I don't watch the news because I am looking for the next terror attack. I won't watch channels like Fox News because they break in with some story about a firecracker going off and then say "We don't know if this is linked to Al-Queda or not. There are no deaths reported as of this time." I watch my local news because I want to know what is happening in my community. I watch national news to know what is going on in my country.
People who don't watch the news, don't care what happens in their world or their corner of the world.

To stay informed...curious about what's going on with what I heard about last time I watched...just like any other show...once you get into the news...you want to follow it...also sometimes there are issues a person may be interested in or involved in and the news can be useful.
All the stuff about worrying about terroism or whatever...well sometimes you turn off the tv and get on with your life...but not knowing about it won't make it go away...it's my world, I want to know what's going on in it.

because I like to know whats happening. I also read the paper every day. It helps when you need something to talk about even silly stories. like yesterdays there was a seagull that robs a shop in scotland everyday and steals a packet of chilli doritos and goes back outside to share with his friends. cctv footage was supplied in case you think it as made up.

I prefer watching the news, rather than reading or hearing coz they bring news instantly or live of the events.
