No. I seriously don't see how although I hear fundies saying it all the time. I wish the fundies would explain *why* gay marriage is supposed to be bad for hetero marriage so I could @ least see how their thought processes are operating.
Fundies claim that gay marriage is against what the Bible mandates (which may be arguable) but this still doesn't explain why it's "bad" for marriage as an institution.
Love & commitment are love & commitment. If more persons enter into marriage with the respect & commitment for each other (and for marriage per se), this would strengthen the institution & it doesn't matter whether the persons involved are the same gender or one of each.

Not in the least.

Homosexuals have been denied the equal right to marry for so long that many have grown to aspire to marriage as a triumph over being regarded as fourth class citizens their entire lives. Heterosexuals have had the luxury of taking marriage for granted.

If someone feels that the stability or "sanctity" of their marriage relationship is seriously threatened by gay marriage, perhaps they have other issues.

Any couple of any gender that can keep a relationship together for 8 years is "beating the odds" for divorce.

Face the ugly statistics; heteros have not done all that well in keeping things together. Why should they claim the right to set standards?

By definition a marriage is a social contract by two persons that states that they are willingly committing into a partnership because of love. I don't think weather those persons are gay or not has any bearing on the validity of the marriage or others for that matter.
Besides, when I see people getting married by (Fat) Elvis, drunk, and in the middle of the night I think marriage is not very valued at all in our society,if it were, that would not be allowed. After all getting married is a serious commitment.
Also, I think that because it is so hard for them to be able to do it, it becomes something precious and far more appreciated than it is for heterosexuals.

There is no concrete way that what married homosexuals do in there relationships has any bearing or effect on my heterosexual marriage.

It is convoluted magical thinking to believe otherwise.

Divorce rates and other disturbing issues with marriage have been trending poorly for years--long before gay marriage became an issue.

I think it is strange that anyone would believe that gay marriage weakens the validity of heterosexual marriage.

Bad marriages weaken the validity of ALL marriages.

Not at all.
Thats just the holy rollers way of trying to make people scared of homosexual marriage.
Its not like a lot of heterosexuals haven't already made a mockery of marriage!

Over 60% divorce rate.

I fail to see how homosexuals marrying could do any worse.

Well:
Marriage is a union of two souls,
two bodies but one heart.
I donot support gay people and I think its just wrong but its their choice and I guess they have a right to marriage as well.

No, not at all.

Saying that it is seems petty and bitter.

Hetero marriage has been a mess for a while and it is not the fault of same sex couples.
