incorrect, the educated mind is the backbone of mankind and the strength of mankind. The true enemy of mankind is the fanatically ignorant.

In the future that will prove to be a correct statement. The educated mind invented the nuclear bomb and that's an enemy of mankind. I'm saying yes now because after we use up all the Earth's natural resources or start an apocalyptic war it will be to late to say I told you so.

P.S.
There are thousands of educated terrorists out there or doesn't that count ?
Could an uneducated man develope the technology or assume the power to destroy mankind ? No, that would take an educated man.

No.. not the educated mind...

It is only an enemy if you use it for evil purposes. We need an educated mind to keep things in order and to make us prosper. An educated mind is what makes us refrain from doing barbaric acts. Come to think of it... it could be vice versa? So, partly you're right. But in my own opinion, it all boils down to a combination of 2 "real" enemies of mankind ---they are the abscence of wisdom and the abscence of a heart.

I don't.

I might go so far as to suggest the enemy of ignorant mankind is the educated mind.

Maybe the enemy of the power hungry among mankind is the educated mind.

The enemy of self-appointed gurus, religious zealots, political demigogues, fanatics, is the educated mind.

So in that sense, you might be correct.

An educated mind is the great liberalizer.
In the Judeo-Christian Bible's book of Eccelesiatics, the writer states that 'For in the multitude of wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge, increaseth sorrow' (1: 18).
Yes, that's because if not with wisdom, responsibility is not accepted, guilt will set in and should for we are responsible for teaching mankind if we understand something they do not. Therefore, you become a teacher...maybe not a paid one, but a teacher none the less. It is your duty to continue the liberation of those bound by ignorance. It is all of our duty to educate ourselves so as not to be bound by those who deceive.

Yes education that gives knowledge but not values can certainly lead to mighty enemies of mankind..... values are necessary to harness education into the right channels that are beneficial to mankind.

I think you probably got the quote wrong. It should have read..
'The enemy of mankind is the uneducated mind'. Not only does that make more sense but its easier to understand.

I don't agree with that either. It is really backwards thinking. You can see the practical result of that kind of philosophy today in Russia. After massive pogroms in which the nomenclature and other educated and prosperous people were exterminated, most of the people who remain completely lack common sense. For example, who else would teach their 12 year old son to drive someone else's car without asking or try to teach him to use a chain saw? A lot of the people who remain and their descendants are talented and intelligent, but something fundamental was cut out of the gene pool.
