I had my photos developed at Harvey Norman Cleveland, Queensland. After I paid $4.65, I was told the photos would be ready in one hour. I came back one hour later, only to be told that the photos had not been printed and I should come back next day. I came back next day and was told that the photos were still not printed. In the afternoon, I received a call from Harvey Norman. The staff told me that their computer system went down and all images stored were lost. In other words, my photos could not be printed. The staff asked me to either visit the store again to have the photos printed or to bring in the receipt for a refund. I told her it would cost me more in petrol to drive to the store and have the $4.65 refund. I had travelled three times to the store only to be disappointed every time. And for $4.65, I need to travel to Harvey Norman again? I tried to find their head office contact to lodge a complain but none is availabe on their website. How convenient!

Toy world is the same - you can not get through to a head office as it's all franchised.
My suggestion is to go through the Consumer affairs or Office of Fair Trading - I use the one in Qld, not sure what your state is.. but look at http://www.fairtrading.qld.gov.au/oft/oftweb.nsf

These sites usually have a form online you can fill out or just ring them up. I've found them helpful even if it's just for advice or going through the whole complaint process. they deal with the complaint for you on your behalf.

Good Luck.

Where is Head Office Harvey Norman? as I wish to complain to the head not just the store

What I want to say *

We have bought several thousands of dollars worth of products from Harvey Norman through Cambridge, Moonah and Hobart. Overall we are extremely disappointed with the items and one store in particular costumer service (Cambridge) MOONAH we bought a washing machine, dryer, computer, navman and Bissell carpet shampooer only problem was with navman not holding charge so haven't really bothered.
HOBART we ordered a leather lounge even requested display model as one was not in stock. Not only was that requested denied but ordered lounge had a delay and when we went back in to ask for display model again it had been sold. We are happy with bedroom suite. The Raphael dining suite arrived broken had to replace, didn't even get the new one out of box to see that the glass top is not connected we have been without a dining suite for well over 4 months now.
CAMBRIDGE Furniture manager has no people skills what so ever and is rather rude. Happy with our BBQ but the LG fridge had a shelf missing which was replaced by a lovely lady in store but now the icemaker has died and we are getting it fixed under warranty as it was only purchased in July this year.
Would you rate this experience all within a 12 month time frame as good?
We have been without furniture had to put things off to wait for deliveries and we still have no dining suit we eat at a coffee table purchased from Fantastic Furniture. We just want you to know Harvey Norman will be the last port of call from now on and if we are desperate the Moonah store is where we will go only problem is they don't have Furniture!!!!!!!!!

I always complain, but after my meal - that way they can't spit in my food. Quite often I've had money off my bill and stuff which compensates for the bad experience. I had a series of problems in a Pizza Hut a couple of months ago but the manager recognised it before I had chance to complain. He couldn't do enough for me. Not only did he not charge me for our food, but he also brought out a big piece of chocolate cake for my little boy and filled a container up with sweets from the ice-cream factory for him. If I feel the service and/or food is exceptional then I will also make sure the manager knows about it. These people should be encouraged to carry on the good work as experiences like this can be few and far between.

There are Harvey Normans in Australia! They are only in Ireland a year or so. By virtue of it's name alone I would never go to their stores. I hate their television adverts, especially the 'Go, Harvey, Go' - in a loud English accent! Sorry, I'm not answering your question - just letting off steam.

Have you tried your state Ombudsman? Won t hurt to try and if nothing is resolved by the store s manager. I have tried their headquarters and my complaints went straight to the store I purchased item from. No replies from them.
