I reckon Pakistan should find permanent opening pair in the ODIs. During last 12 months they had various Opening pairs. Mohommad Hafeez, Kamran Akmal, Shoib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Imran Farhat, Imran Nazier, Salman Butt all opened the innings. Earlier they had combinations like Anwer & Sohail, Anwer & Afridi .

If Shahid Afridi and salman butt will open the innings it would be nice and they can play as situation wants .they should also given more matches to fix properly

yeah, you are right, but acutally Pakistan is trying different players on different matches for opening to find the permanent opening pair....after Saeed Anwar over team is missing a good opener...
I think Imran Nazir, Mohammad Hafeez, Imran Farhat anf Salman Butt , do quite good in opening,,,and the opening pair must be a combination of left and right hand side combination....

Shaid Afridi and Imran Nazir.
Both of them have the capability to play long innings.
They run very well between the wickets.
Both are very aggressive.
If either of them click in a match then 300+ score is certain.

Pakistan & India share the same problem & will always be the same. This is because there is so much competition among players & u jst cannot persist with someone who isn't performing for sometime. There r players who r out of the team & waiting for their turn. There is no clear answer to ur question because all these players except Malik r inconsistent. Situation is little better in India because of presence of experienced players like Saurav & cricket god. I hop they(pakistan) find a solution to this huge problem. Lawson wil be able to do NOTHING just like Greig Chappel. There is just to much interference in our 2 cricket teams from people outside

i think they should stick with nazir and salman but if not then replace hafeez or farhat with either.
but i think pakistan should be looking for new opening players cause there is LOADS of talent in pakistan but they never get a chance to prove themselves.
