I'm stuck in the USA,when I think of Australia I think of it as the Land where Olivia Newton-John,Mel Gibson,Crocodile Dundee are from, everyone there is white, there is no crime there at all, everyone goes to beach every day, they have Universal Health Care there plus Legalized Prostitution too,it must be Heaven on Earth over there down under.

I'm Mexican-American.

What I think of Australia is basically it's uninhabitable on the Western side and the Eastern side has a lot of people. Big cities and small towns. I think of the Sydney Opera House, Finding Nemo, Lost, that Crocodile Hunter, and Russel Crowe.

I think the average Australian as either an aborigine or a white person. No real traits come to mind like intelligent or good looking.
Although the only Australian I ever met was Japanese.

I'm from the U.S.

I think of a fair-haired, suntanned person with a smile on his or her face, doing some kind of athletic activity in the outdoors near the water. I also picture people there as being rough-and-tumble sorts with large hearts and carefree attitudes. It's almost like they are exempt from the torments of the rest of the world by virtue of the beauty of their continent and the ease of their lifestyle.

I only know one Australian person, so I can't really make any generalizations or conclusions.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think Australia is surfing, and fun and awesome people. And the word Aussie.
And Kylie Minogue is Australian and she is GORGEOUS!! And she can sing and dance and she's got a great body and a great personality to go with all of that too!!
And I live in the US.

I'm Canadian, so when I think of Australia , I think of my fellow commonwealth countrypersons. We have similar world views, plus Canadian prisoners helped " colonize" Australia. Rambunctious , kind people. Then there's koalas, Croc Hunter, Crocodile Dundee, Olivia Newton John and vegamite that pop up next in my head....I know just like everyone thinks of Canada with moose and bear and snow and the Mounties.

I'm from the United States and my first thought of Austrailia is of the Opera House. And I'm sorry, but I think of the average Austrailian to look like Crocodile Dundee.

I'm an American, and I like Australia, many cool animals. Australians seem like good people, I'm not sure really.

I am from the US

I picture Koala bears, b/c they are cute.

The average Australian person....hmmm i picture sun-tanned, surfer types. I know that is a flaming generalization, but that is what I imagine.

I do love the accent!

Kangaroos, sheep farms, scrub plains and deserts, really really long fences.

I'm from the U.S. and I'm betting the average Ausie is like the avergae anyone else anywhere else - you've got your dozey gits and you've got your paragons of virtue and intelligence. - and everything in between.
