yeah, some come from the factory painted. I use regular dupont centari auto paint on the jugs, I dont paint the heads though, they run a lot hotter. I have a buddy that had his powder coated white, worked ok on the jugs but the heads softened up & turned yellow(powder coat melts at 375 to 400) so I got to say TOLD YA. you can use hi temp paint on the heads but it will make them run a little hotter.

You can paint the outside of the cylinders with high temperature paint. You should use a good paint so it doesn't burn off when the engine gets hot.

i don't holiday motorcycles, so take this as an interloper's perspective. maximum individuals look to get a Harley because of the fact they like a Harley first and a bike 2nd. i'm not announcing that a Harley isn't a bike (it for sure is), i'm announcing that maximum individuals of what i've got considered looks to symbolize they purchase the call over different features. it is not that they make 'undesirable' motorcycles, yet i think of for the money you will spend on a Harley you ought to in all probability purchase 2 motorcycles of comparable or better high quality someplace else. additionally, in case you're attracted to a recreation-orientated bike, i don't think of Harley-Davidson could additionally be one your radar. It easily does not be on mine.

Sure, why not? The factory does them in black or silver.
Pay attention to the warnings above, too thick/ wrong stuff will insulate, which you don't want. Flat black is the best color for shedding heat. Don't ask, the engineers proved it, not me.

Years ago, I did my Suzuki in flat black. Then I ran a file over the edges of the fins for contrast before the paint fully hardened. Didn't look bad.

DO NOT use powder coat on cylinders. It's great stuff everywhere else but it has an insulating effect and will make your engine run hotter. A good high temp black paint will help it cool better.

Yes, you will need to use special high temperature paint/enamel or powdercoating. Caution, as painting an air cooled engine can decrease it's ability to cool itself off. This is why people with classic VW bugs need to install extra cooling equipment if they decide th chrome their engine.

Yes, but if you do it wrong, it'll look like crap and it's hell to remove. Whatever you do, don't cut costs on the paint you use. Don't ask me why, just trust me, use the best stuff you can find (call a professional painter). Good luck.

Yes it is possible to paint the engine of a harley. The only color I am aware of that is available is black. This is a specially fomulated paint designed to withstand the high temperatures of the engine. If you want to buy some, your best bet is to go to a harley dealer for it.

Yes, you can use any color of Hi-Temp. engine enamel, but if you want a nice job that'll look good and last, you'll need to do an extremely thourough job of degreasing and prep work.

Yes you can. Most people just do it with a high temp powdercoat. Talk to your local HD dealer about it. They can probably recommend someone or they might even do it themselves.
