I am a man who sleeps quite well at night, so maybe I can help. There isn't one particular thing that I do to go to sleep, but a combination of things. The first thing I do is put myself in the right mindset before going to bed. It's 3:30 a.m. local time right now. Yesterday is gone and the future is not here yet. I am focused on the present which includes coffee and music. But then, come 6:00 p.m., my day is over and my future isn't here yet. Now it's time to get ready for bed. I won't allow any one or any thing else distract me from this purpose.

It's during this time that I turn the air on (or down) to cool off my bedroom. I also remake the bed so that the sheets are fresh. Some people say that they're helped by taking a cool shower, which makes sense since your lowering your body temperature which is more conducive to sleep. And finally, when I'm ready to bed, I turn on soft new age music on a 30 minute timer. My goal is to go to sleep before the TV, in my case, turns off. It then becomes a habit to go to sleep soundly within a 30 minute period of time.

But don't ignore a pharmaceutical solution as well. I take a cocktail of medications at night including Seroquel, Trazadone, and Neurontin. This definitely helps me to sleep. And my soulmate takes Ambien CR before going to bed, which helps her sleep. Good night!
