so i went to a dietishion a little while ago who told me i have IBS ands its stress related, she put me on AIMS herbal fiber blend which i take everyday in the morning and night when i start to have problems, recently i have been having a really bad spell but its diff to normal pain that i get. i usually get a pain that starts under my ribs and pains down to my abdomen. recently i had pain on the righ side close to where i thought my overies were and not in the normal area i would have pain, i thought that maybe it could have been a cyst. i went to the doc and he prodded and sed that i have an inflamed colon (i thought the colon was on the left hand side??) so he gave me meds as well as an antidepressent for a 10 day course to help with the inflamation on the colon and stress. but its back again after 2 weeks! sharp irritating pain on the right side of adomen.
anyone got this?

The colon is the large intestine so it doesn't have a "side". You didn't say if you have IBS-C (with constipation) or IBS-D (with diarrhea.) I have IBS-C and yes, much of my pain is on the right side. I've tried all kinds of different treatments and the one I finally found to work best is Miralax. Miralax is available over-the-counter in the fiber supplement aisle at the store, but it's not a fiber. There's no cure for IBS so don't expect it to just go away forever, but there are treatments. The best pill for IBS-C was Zelnorm, but it was taken off the market a few months ago....grrrrr.

MY SISTER HAS IBS AND MY MOM DOES TOO.I MAY BUT HAVENT BEEN DIAGNOSED.I GET SHARP PAIN IN ABDOMEN WHEN THINGS ARENT MOVING ALONG.YOU ARE TAKING FIBER TOO. I DONT LIKE TO TAKE FIBER BECAUSE IT ALWAYS CAUSES PROBLEMS.EAT VEGETABLES,ROUGHAGE TO MOVE THINGS ALONG BUT NOT FIBER. DOESNT HURT TO GO TO A DIFFERENT DOCTOR THOUGH

Go to the doc again. Colitis is a stubborn disease.
