The Union of Soviet Socialist Republic no longer exists. Yes, it was the same thing as the Soviet Union which was broken up quite a few years ago.

Yes. And also it does not exist anymore. Often the media would portray the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) and the Soviet Union as Russians. This is despite the country then being made of states that later became other countries, including the Ukraine and Georgia.

Stalin for example, a leader of the USSR was not a Russian but was from Georgia.
