All the answerers suck. They say that Dhoni,Ponting,Kallis & Sri Lankan batsmen r defensive. This is so foolish & shows that they hav no knowledge of the game. Wel there r very few defensive players now a days. Dravid used to be one but he has improved. Same is the case with Atapattu. It is either Boeta Dippenar or Rahul Dravid

I THINK of the current day players it would be-IAN BELL from England or Jacques Kallis from Sth Africa.
but the king of slow defensive batting was JEFFREY BOYCOTT from England-the grass grew quicker than he made runs lol.

I think it will have to be Jaques Kallis from South Africa. He takes forever to score runs and to get out, that is for ODI's. For test cricket I will have to go with Ricky Ponting or Stephen Flemming.
