But drive and talk on your cell phone yourself?

I don't have a cell, (nor do I want or need one), so I've never driven a vehicle and talked on a cell phone simultaneously.

Concerning being annoyed by those on cell phones while driving, I can't say that I'm actually annoyed by the act itself. However, if I get cut off on the highway or someone is sitting at a green light too long in front of me, a cell phone chatterbox is the first thing I look for to place blame on for the driver's carelessness or incompetence.

Actually, it depends. It depends on the driver and the location. There is no simple answer that fits everyone - like "I think talking and driving is bad." All the people on here saying that are probably being hypocritcal. The important thing, really, is that people not fool themselves. Let's face it: some of us are better drivers than others.

And you can also get a hands-free cell phone set-up. And if somebody is driving on a long street for a long time, in a straight path, then I don't see how talking on the cell phone will mess them up.

But in general. I think that soccer moms driving in those 2-ton SUVs should definitely not be talking on the phone and driving. First of all, 99% of them can't drive to begin with, and with that huge car they think they are untouchable. I really get annoyed by those fat SUVs that pollute the environment.

I asked a pretty similar question myself:

I usually don't talk on the cell while driving, but when I really need to I try my best not to let it affect my driving - I'm used to driving with one hand anyway and it's not a big deal.

A lot of these self-righteous people telling you talking on the cell phone and driving is so dangerous are the same people that do it themselves. But I think that what we need is better driver's education in this country, and possibly a law that states cell phones are only allowed as hands-free set-ups.

i dont really get annoyed with people like that. I always want ot consider their reasons for talking on the phone. It is ok for me if the person talking on the phone is actually talking to a business partner or their topic is all about important stuffs> I could also consider those who are talking with their long lost friends. People talking with thir boyfriends or girlfriends on the phone seems to be fine but if were they, I will just keep it as a secret. it's quite irritating to hear some sweet talks from people because it's just too private for me.

Not at all.

I can't be hypocritical (or at least, I TRY not to be hypocritical). I talk and drive frequently, but it's not the talking and driving that annoys me.

It's the talking and driving 50 mph in the left lane on the highway.

For pete's sake, pull over into the slow lane if you can't operate your vehicle and talk at the same time. Or pull over completely.

Better yet, as the bumper sticker says, HANG UP AND DRIVE!

it's ok if people talk on their cell phones while they're driving. but when they start acting dumb on the street like slowing down and not paying attention to the stop lights, that's when it gets really annoying.

Yes, I think it's a dangerous practice. It's illegal in some states.

What the hell has become so important nowadays that one has to be in constant contact and can't take the time to pull off the road in the first place? I don't use a cell, and I sure as hell don't miss it.

only with the people that don't know how to drive even when they are not on the phone....being on the phone only makes them a worse driver....now me on the other hand I am a good driver and I can talk on the phone and drive with no problem....

yes, shouldn't that be considered reckless driving.
but hey i'm for the european style of driving (no cupholders or other distractions, just the driving end)

It's shocking at how bad the country is as a whole at driving.

we need to teach people how to control their vehicles not just to blankly take them selves from point a to point b

Very much so. They usually take turns to slow or make stupid moves. I don't answer my cell while I'm driving I let it ring over to voice mail.
