In US, baseball is the American great past time for us, but no other sport messes with or compares to (American) football. Obviously there are cities that are still knee deep into baseball, but overall football has taken the market.

But how big is cricket (international and county) in England compared to soccar(football)? Big, interms of popularity.

I don't think England is as good anymore, so are there still as many fans for cricket than soccar? Also, are there cities or counties that are more cricket crazy than others?

Cricket has become a lot bigger in England over the past 4 years.

Beating Australia in the Ashes in 2005 did wonders for cricket here and a lot more kids are taking the game up now. It will never be as big as football is here but it is a good team game that will never be out of fashion in this country.

England are the second best Test playing side in the world, and although we are quite useless at the on day form of the game, we are in fact one of the best cricketing sides in the world.

We play India on Thursday and am confident we can beat them over this 3 game series.

Yes Cricket is still big in England, not everyone is passionate about the game, but there again its the same with each sport, but watch the test or go to a county game, one day game, 20 20 game and see how many people are there.
Ok each day may not get thousands of people in the croud, but there again who can each week during the summer take 4 days off per week to watch a match all the way through?

webboffin thats a very ill informed old sterotype and is completley wrong. Over the past 6 or 7 years cricket has had a massive turn-a-round and is fast becoming as popular with all ages as it is in south african, australia, india, pakistan etc.. and channel 4 has had a lot to do with that. Cricket, like football and rugby, is an english traditon, but its still very much alive, just because it doesn't attract crowds of hooligans does not mean it's dead in the ground. The cricket fans who aren't members of the MCC are known as the barmy army, and they're called that for a reason...
Yes, Fahad, cricket is still popular especially in britain where we have such a diveristy of indian, west indians, pakistanis, bangladeshi and west african populations who all have thriving cricket cultures. Cricket is very much alive and well...

I believe that South Africa and England are equally big chokers. The difference is that the English Media didn't make such a big deal out of it and they don't call their team chokers. I will only say that full members (aside from Bangladesh and Zimbabwe) aren't chokers only if they've won the World Cup. England have played four more World Cups than South Africa, and chances are huge that SA will win in the next four. South Africa have played only 6, and have been unlucky in half of them. But if I have to choose one: England (All their South African players can't even help them!)

Irrespective of the slide in the form of England Team in the recent past, cricket is still most popular game in England.

I think football is more popular in England than cricket.
As I am currently living in Denmark....I know much better about the popular sport played in England.

I don't think cricket is big in england. we are lousy at it.
The only people that play cricket are villagers who play on Sundays while their parish churchy type housewives prepare triangular cut tuna and cucumber sandwiches for them and then after the game they pop down the village pub for a pint of John Smiths and a smoke on a pipe (outside now).
