One: It doesnt orbit the sun, a body must orbit the sun in order to be a planet, after passing other tests. Also, since it doesnt orbit the sun, it is impossibel to determine one test, a roughly sperical orbit around the sun.

Two: Well, its gravity has formed it into a sphere. Test two passed

Three: The center of revolution between the earth and the moon is within the earth's surface. This is another failed test, although a technical test, it still means that the moon is too small to be deemed a planet, as compared to earth.

Basically, an object that orbits another body other than the sun is a moon, unless it is large enough to be considered a double planet, which the moon-earth system is not.

Because it is a satellite of Earth. Some scientists believe that the moon 'broke off' of the Earth long ago, but never escaped Earth's gravity. But the moon IS actually referred to as a 'planet' sometimes, like when the astronauts landed there during the Apollo program.

If you consider the earth as the son of the sun, then the moon can be taken as the son of the earth. Then moon is the grand son of the sun.So the grandson cannot be taken as the son of the sun ;is it not?
