The Strokes
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
The White Stripes
Muse
I don't particularly love these bands, but they are probably the best 'new' bands so far this decade.
The best album this decade is 'Kid A' (2000) by Radiohead

Tool, easily. their live act surpasses all other bands of today by far.
Radiohead's main decade was the 90s
Muse is great but they arent 'known' enough to be considered 'the' band of the 00s

None they all suck.....Hey Seth Chilie Peppers has been around for quite a bit longer than a decade. Surely you remember Blood, Sugar back in 90-91.....Their new stuff is not nearly as good.

i agree with two of the previous answers. Outkast because they are so different but good. Tho, they won't ever be able to top the success of "Hey Ya". And U2 because they are so amazingly talented and as close to perfect as any band will ever come, but I have to admit the '00 have not been their best years ( but there is still time for them to come out with yet another fantastic hit)
Sadly, when we look back on this decade, I think people like Justin TImberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stafani, etc may be who is associated with this time period. Which is sad because they don't have the substance that previous bands have had. But then again, nobody is ever going to measure up to the Beatles and Rolling Stones, right?
