You are going to have to select to manually manage your music, that way you choose what goes on and what comes out of it.

To manually manage what files go on your iPod instead of synchronizing, perform the following steps:

Launch iTunes>Plug in your iPod> Once the iPod is recognized, click on it on the resource bar to the left in iTunes> Check Manually manage music.

To me, a better choice would be do copy what is on your iPod and put it into your new computer.

You can copy the files on your iPod by downloading iDump, and then select what you want copied on your iPod, and press start copy. iDump is completely free and does it's job well.

This will allow you to take whatever it is on your iPod onto a new computer, a friend’s computer, or if you deleted your music by mistake. I use it myself as a personal iPod recovery program and it works great.

Download iDump from this source:
