I don't think the question should be 'which is better'. Star Wars was great. It added a dimention to space and brought us alot of new species. Star Trek was first though and over the years it has endured. It is now a Legacy...an Icon if you will.

I was born with Star Trek TOS and expected it to fade like so many programs have over the years when it left the airways. But it has grown and matured and traveled from the small tv screen to movies to museams and infiltrated NASA and has even gone into space.

So, which movie has brought us the most diversity of characters and species? Star Wars.

Which has endured and grown and become a part of our culture....Star Trek.

Each has in its way helped the other to grow. So the proper question should not be "Which is better" but "Which do you prefer?"

As for me....Star Wars was awesome and will always have a place in my heart...but then again so will Babylon 5.

However Star Trek captured my heart years ago......... Nothing is better.

Endless debate, here i come.

Regarding money of course Star Wars has made more money but Star Trek has more stories associated with the franchise, several series, more movies than Star Wars, etc. Its bigger by sheer volume of production.

On a personal note i only liked the first two movies of Star Wars. The third not so much and hated the new digital ones. If it wasnt for the fact that they have the "Star Wars seal" plastered over them nooobody would see them. They are almost as bad as Alien Vs Predator or The Flinstons meet the Jetsons.

I would say they are even. Star Wars started out superior, but then Jar Jar brought it down to the campy Star Trek level. I love the original Star Wars films (IV-VI) and the Star Trek: The Next Generation TV series.

Star Wars is way better. Star Trek was O.K.. They do better as a T.V. show then movies. No idea what the gross Money is for both movies sagas but, Star Wars definitely made more money then Star Trek. May the Force be with you. Live long and prosper.

Star Wars wins in the money arena, but as for content, they both have had some good and horrible stories. I love both, but I would have to say that Star Trek is my favorite. Both have great universes.

Star Trek. I never liked A New Hope so that kinda ruined it for me. I like all the other ones though, but A New Hope was just dumb. The dialogue was horrible, the acting was horrible, and Luke Skywalker was a whiny little girl and I hated him.

Star Trek:TNG was one of the best shows in the history of television IMO, and I also liked DS9 and Voyager, but was not a fan of TOS and I only saw two or three episodes of Enterprise, but the movies were much better than Star Wars.

Am a Star Wars fan..... big fan. I even know Mara Jade, Master Tholme, Quinlan Vos, etc...... The only thing I know of Star Trek are Patrick Stewart, Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner. Nothing else.... weird, eh?
