As a legitimate third party (Iibertarian), what I've seen is that the liberals are solely responsible for the divisiveness.
Sandy Berger versus Scooter Libby, who really committed a crime?
Trent Lott versus Jesse Jackson, who's the real racist?
George Bush versus Nancy Pelosi, who really overstepped their Constitutional authority?

I rather think what you describe is the work of the father of all lies. He teaches the Democrats to defend and advocate evil. He teaches them to hate and to ridicule those who wish to promote good, prosperity and freedom across the planet. Fighting against evil is not evil.
