Well, I don't think the only thing between the dogs and cats and world domination is their lack of opossable thumbs. I think they'd need to be able to speak at least...
although, George dubya Bush doesn't exactly know how to speak... so who knows?

I think if anyone up in outer space looks down and sees how we walk our dogs and take care of our cats then they probably think that already without the opposable thumbs.

no, I don't think they could be more technology or socially "advanced" than us. Their brains are just too small.
But it sure would make it easier to train em to get me a beer.
Makes me think of Koalas and Opossums . They have opposable thumbs but it hasn't helped them much intellectually.
