ive recently started a new job (yes i got it btw)last wednesday but it is monthly pay and they are saying i wont get paid til the 25th of august which sucks.

im pretty skint now as it is and 7 weeks with no money whatsoever is really gonna harm me , not to mention petrol money to get to work and money for the bills.

ive thought about asking for a sub to make ends meet, but it feels wrong seeing as ive only been there just over a week and the last thing i want to do is annoy my new boss already.

any ideas?

In the US, there are not many employees that are allowed to be paid monthly outside of government employees. Most have to be paid at least twice a month. You don't say where you are located, but from certain words you use, it doesn't sound like the US, so this may not be much help in your situation.

I assume you are in UK I do not se why you could not ask for a loan of something less than what you think you would have got for the period to the 25th July. I feel that it would not be wise to if you can avoid it. You are giving too much information to your employer if it is a small firm. A large firm can cope with this and it's personnel( Human resourdrs Manager) will have been through this before so you would be OK
I would go and see you Bank Manager first for prides sake

Clearly the company you are employed by pay salaries 1 month in arrears. It may be possible to arrange a prtion of thatr salary to be paid early - there is no harm in asking. Alternatively, ask your bank for a loan - but then you will be paying interest on the that amount.

Since they abolished the Truck Act of 1831 employers and employees agree a contract including payment methods and frequencies. So apart from minimum wage act no legislation exists.

If you are "skint" there are people out there who will give you a short term loan against your next salary payment, google short term loans.

Sounds like they are rather slow at setting up wages ... not unusual in a big company ... in theory you could go direct to HR and ask for an advance on your wages, HOWEVER if they are this slow setting up monthly payment it is likely they will take a month to set up any advance :-)

I suggest you speak to parents / siblings etc. and let them know your situation.

If all else fails, you could spend on your Credit Card .. but you MUST pay back 100% as soon as you get paid ... otherwise in 5 years you will be bankrupt.
