As I was going to St. Ives, I met a man with seven wives. Every wife had seven sacks, every sack had seven cats. Every cat had sever kits. Kits, cats, sacks and wives how many were going to St. Ives.

None. None of the cats, wives, kits or sacks were going to St. Ives because you said "As I was going to St. Ives..." [emphasis on " I"]. So, the number is 0, you never said that any of the wives, kits, sacks and cats were going to St. Ives in you're riddle above and the answer is not 1 because you are only asking about the wives, cats, sacks and kits, not you, yourself or anyopne else other than the listed things for that matter.

It's impossible to tell. The riddle didn't say anything about the wives, kits, sacks, or cats going to St. Ives.
