Since winning their first World Series, they've only had two stretches where they went 15 years without winning a World Series.

The Cards have a storied history, but their dry spells have been longer and deeper than those of the Yankees. For the first 25 years of their history, they were a laughingstock. Only when Sam Breadon took control of the team and hired Branch Rickey away from the Browns did they turn into a contender. They also had a long run after WWII when they didn't take even a pennant, and their 2006 title was their first in almost 25 years.
