You may find lines around the block. Why not go just to hang out then buy your book someplace else? Even my grocery store is selling them. Pax - C

I wouldn't recommend coming last minute, unless you wanna be caught up in the chaos of Midnight Magic. Lucky for me, my father's taking the time out to go super-early, so we won't miss the activities, and so we have a good chance at being earlier in the line. You'll need a number to get the book, and I think they do have an order with the numbers. Depends on if you pre-ordered, too.
You can get it anywhere, though, but directly at the party is the best way, in my opinion. Hope you can get your hands on a copy. =)

Greetings! I used to work part time at Barnes and Noble just a few years ago when book 5 came out. That was the most fun night I ever had working. It was so much fun that I returned as a customer for book six. I would have volunteered to work at the store this Friday, but I am on disability. It would not be professional for me to do so, so I have to sit this last one out :(.
Anyway, to answer your question, the book goes on sale at 12:00 midnight this Friday/Saturday night. Due to copyright laws, the boxes are forbidden to be opened prior to this time. To do so would seriously violate federal and international copyright laws and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent.
My advice is to go to the party and just enjoy the ambiance and excitement of the children and adults waiting for the chance to get their hands on this book! It really is a lot of fun and you will never forget it. Neither will the kids.

They are not allowed to start selling the book until 12:01. At that time they will sell first to those who pre-ordered a copy and who showed up for the party and put aside copies for those who pre-ordered but do not come to the party. Then if there are any copies left they will sell on a first come first serve basis to those who show up but did not pre-order the book.

Pre-order the book. Or call the store and find out.

I think that if you pre-ordered at the store, you can go whenever and have a copy secured for you...
