It will get worse from the lack of strict and proper enforcement.

i think here in the Philippines, majority of those that belong to the below-middle class still lack knowldege about this issue. This is a big deal since the public transportation drivers and owners have to be made aware of the impact of this to us and our future children.

Strict enforcement of anti-pollution laws is greatly needed, but informing people as to the WHY of it's enforcement should also be made clear and available. This way, enforcement will not be met with much resistance due to ignorance.

This is a very complex question. I would hope that we will be at least a little better off in 5 years than we are now. The answer depends on several variables, and may be specific to certain regions. Many nations have adopted the Kyoto treaty, and in the United States, some cities have adopted it as an ordinance. With the new trend of building "Green Roof" buildings in large urban areas, and an increasing demand for more fuel-efficient automobiles, and the integration on more flex-fuels, I believe we'll start to see at least a small decrease in the amount of smog in most large cities.

I have lived in the Philippines for the past 5 years. I believe it was 2002 when that "clean air bill" was passed into law. It has not improved one bit. We still have smoke belching trikes, jeepney's and other vehicles fouling up the air downtown. Why ? You hit the nail on the head. Passing laws without enforcing them is almost as bad as doing nothing at all.

Will it be any better 5 years from now ? I seriously doubt it !

I'm afraid- Worse. With more, and More, and MORE- cars & people in the World, I'm afraid that the Pollution situation is only going to worsen. Enforcement WOULD help...-But it'll only slow the worsening of the Problem...-It won't reverse it. :(

It will get worse, actually its been almost 10 years that the government starts its campaign against it but still implementation is so hard for them.
