No and no. A-Rod was never the best player in the league 2001-2006?? Must be you forgot about the two MVP awards he won, in 2003 and 2005. Also, A-Rod is in the American League, Bonds and Pujols are in the National League.
Also, A-Rod has never been linked to steroids like SOMEONE I could name. BTW, A-Rod is blowing Bonds and Pujols out of the water this season isn't he? 32 home runs already, 90 RBIs, playing Gold Glove-caliber third base.
You are right that A-Rod hasn't helped the Yankees win a World Series, but he can't pitch. He wasn't the only one who slumped, the entire team did except for Jeter and Posada. I don't understand why you would ask this question that is full of inaccuracies.

Overpaid yes, when you consider the importance of what he does. Overrated no. Last time I checked, the Yankees didn't win in 2001,2002, or 2003, before he was there. 2004, the whole team stopped hitting after Game 4 of the ALCS. 2005, Randy Johnson screwed it up with his bad start at home in Game 3. 2006 Mike Mussina couldn't hold the lead in Game 2 that would have made the Best of 5 series 2-0. While he is partly to blame, it wasn't all his fault.
Not to mention the suspicion that surrounds Bonds and Albert. Obviously, more Bonds than Albert though.

Overpaid= Possibly, like others have said, all pro athletes are overpaid
Overrated= Definitely not, He continues to hit 30+ HR's a season @ his body stature. Can steal bases, hit for a good AVG, and play excellent defense(thought last year was not that great).
If you want to talk about overrated take a look @ David Ortiz, doesn't even play a defensive position. I don't care what anyone else says, yes I like the DH spot because it makes the AL and NL different, but you cant call a player an MVP or great player if he plays less then 110 innings @ a defensive position.

He is not overrated at all. He's one of the best hitters in the game. He's hitting .310, he's got 89 RBI's and he's already got 32 homers. What more can you ask for?
Baseball is a team sport it takes more than one man to take a team to a World Series. The Yankee's need to get some good young pitchers instead of these old fogies like Clemens and Petitte. They are just not the best team right now.
Sure he's overpaid but I can't think of a single MLB Player who isn't overpaid!

Overrated? I don't think he's overrated even when proclaimed The Best Player In Baseball. Rodriguez IS *THAT* *GOOD*.
Overpaid? Who cares? Seriously, who cares? Hint: ticket prices are not set merely to pay player salary; tickets are priced based upon a completely independent curve. Ticket prices never (okay, rarely) come down no matter how the payroll adjusts. This is well-established and true, but also a topic for another time.

A-Rod hasnt helped the Yankees win a World Series cause the Yankees have surrounded him with old players and a poor pitching staff. You have to give the guy some time to adjust. I mean the only time he made the playoffs before he was on the Yankees was almost ten years before that with the Mariners. Put A-Rod with a team like the Angels and they will have several championships.

being a Yankees fan, he is overpaid, soon to be overpaid more in the offseason with new deal to some team (of course, most sports players are overpaid, but that's not the point)
overrated... i don't know, yes he has had some postseason troubles, but he has helped them get there
just look at this season right now (32 HR, 90 RBI in 90-something games) much better defensive 3B than last year
to answer, slightly overrated (Bonds, however, is highly overrated today, taking up space on ESPN with "0-1 in pinchhit role")

He is playing like the best player in baseball this season. I wouldn't call him overrated. No matter who you compare him to or what years you look at he is always in the Top 3. As far as not helping the Yanks. Its impossible for one player to carry a team in baseball (ie if he played out of his mind and the pitching gave up 7 runs a game its not his fault). He deserves to be paid like the best player in baseball. However, he is overpaid but that is because the salary system is flawed.

Arod is quite simply the best baseball player of his generation. he is only one player on a team of 25. If the rest of the team sucks what can he do? This isn't basketball where one player can carry a team for a season like Jordon use to do with the Bulls. Quit being and hater and enjoy him while you can.

I wouldn't consider him overrated. He's a pretty solid player overall. He just chokes in the playoffs... which makes him very overpaid.
