x = (ac + b) / (c - a)

ax + b = c(x - a)
ax + b = cx - ca......opening the brackets
b+ ca = cx - ax.....taking like terms together
b +ca = x(c - a).......... factorizing x
(b +ca)/ (c-a) = x.......... dividing both sides by (c-a)
Thus x = (b + ca)/(c -a).......... since a is not = c then the denominator cannot be = 0 and thus the equation won't be an undefined one.

ax + b = c(x - a)

ax + b = cx - ca

ax - cx = - b - ca

x (a - c) = - ( b + ca)

x = - (b + ca) / (a - c)

or x = (b + ca) / (c - a)

The first codntion that a is not equal to c is given so that the denominator does not become zero.
