before I moved away and had gone to college, I'd been so close with family friends...Now, I feel like i hardly know them anymore. So much so that when I'm around them, it's akward. I don't know why four years has made me not want to be around that anymore. I guess it's just not who I am at this stage in life?

Yes, I do feel the same way. It's sad because my family lives so close. And I do often miss and worry about them. But it is rare that I will even call to check on them.

Hi!

What you describe is quite natural. The tension that can build up between parents and young adult children makes the essential parting of the ways as a new generation seeks its Independence easier. The closeness often comes back later on.

Clinging parents - or children - make the break more awkward.

I was living alone from the age of thirteen and spent seventeen years of my life helping children leaving care discover the joys of self autonomy. Ironically, two of my own children are returned kippers (Kids In Parents Pockets Evaporating Retirement Savings) after we moved from our large house to a much smaller one when the last left home. It's not too bad, as all our other kids have, for some strange reason, bought houses near ours, and it won't be too long before the kippers do the same.

Good wishes.

i do no longer think of it extremely is hogwash. sure 2 persons advance otherwise yet being married you're meant to be in contact in one yet another's lives. You help one yet another and love one yet another. you do no longer could be mutually 24 hours to try this. As for staying interior the marriage if the 'in love' feeling isn't there... If all people occasion feels it extremely is not any longer there, they could convey it up and communicate approximately it. it extremely is referred to as verbal substitute. in many cases if one occasion feels it, that's a competent possibility the different one does as properly. in the event that they take issues with no attention and don't do something approximately it, they advance aside. It does take place. And why could you reside in a loveless marriage? considering direction which you have have been given tried to reconnect and failed. existence is merely too short. all human beings merits to be satisfied. Leaving a marriage without love no longer in basic terms supplies the guy who leaves a wager at happiness. the different individual is loose to hunt for happiness as properly. Sticking mutually and starting to be previous and green with envy mutually merely does not make experience.

I feel I've grown apart from them and I've been at home the whole time. Ever since my sister left me alone with my parents last August for college, there seems to be more secrets and I've come to realize my family's really effed up. It's freakin' me out because basically my childhood wasn't all that I thought it was and my parent's aren't the people I look up to. Only 2 more years and I can forget that.
