Okay, I'm only 17, and I don't pay taxes, but soon I will, so I am strongly opinionated about this. I absolutely think we should keep the death penalty. I know sometimes, for the crimes that people have commited, you want them to stay in prison and have to think about what they did everyday for the rest of their life. And there are also some people who are completely set against any kind of killing and think that it wasn't okay for them to kill, so why can we turn around and kill that person. Well, if they have a life sentence, then their life is pretty much over anyway. And (although I don't pay taxes yet) I don't want to have to spend my tax money paying for the food and "housing" of the prisoners who have life sentences! That is just my opinion....

No.

BTW the answer from thechefdishinout is wrong about costs. The death penalty process is much more expensive than life without parole. The reason is that the legal process in death penalty cases is much more complicated and prolonged.
People wonder why it takes so long???

As of now, 124 people who were sentenced to death have been released with evidence of their innocence. Of these, at least 50 had already served more than a decade. If the process were speeded up, we would certainly execute innocent people.

Our appeals process is not set up to take a second look at whether a convicted person was actually innocent. Its purpose is to make sure that the original trial was fair and in accord with constitutional standards. What to many people looks like lawyers searching for loopholes is really the search for a way to present evidence of innocence.

DNA does not guarantee that we will not execute an innocent person. It is available at less that 10% of all murder scenes.

Life without parole is now on the books in 48 states. It means what it says, is sure and swift (necessary for a punishment to deter others) and costs much less than the death penalty. Like the death penalty it incapacitates criminal (prevents recidivism.)

No death penalty! I think the person should spend years rotting in their cell! Death is the easy way out! Let them suffer for the rest of their years on earth for the crime they did! Or even better "An eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth!" whatever they did to who ever or what ever they should have done back to them so they can feel the same exact pain !

Absolutely.

Keep selling those tobacco products. Can production sources add more lethal content because the delay in
fatal consequences is too long. Upgrade the learning
curve so people usually start dropping after five years
of habit instead of thirty! Eliminate filters too and tons
of toxic trash can be eliminated from our future. Empty
prisons sooner by letting all inmates smoke big cigars.

Hell to the yes, and the reason being Karma is a B----. It might not come right then or it might not be the same way but at least he or she will get theirs. Some stuff you can not forgive , even though two wrongs don't make a right but I feel if you gone be stupid enough to do something so unforgivable. Like molesting/murder of a child that is defenseless you don' deserve to breathe. God forgive me!

That is kind of tricky. I would like to say yes wholeheartedly, but less face it some people who have been put to death were innocent.
