Stores like Borders, Waldens, and Barnes & Noble will be holding a midnight release party starting well before. Borders and Waldens (same parent company by the way) Grand Hallows Ball starts at least at 9 or 9:30 Friday night (been checking some stores in various statesstates, In New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine the earliest I've found has been 9 PM, California, New York, Connecticut, North Carolina, and Alabama the earliest I've discovered is 9:30 PM). Barnes & Noble the earliest I've found for the part is 4 PM Friday. Visit the Borders and Barnes and Noble websites to find out times the party's start for each store. Also try checking local bookstores to see if their doing a Harry Potter party and when it starts.
At all parties, the book goes on sale at 12:01 AM.
As for ordering from Amazon, they'll ship so it arrives on the 21st, but only if you ordered by noon on the 17th.

Yes, there are some book stores that will be open and will start selling the book at midnight. I know for sure the Waldenbooks store at the Fashion Square Mall in Orlando will be open. That's where I;m getting my book from.
Also, there are even some K-Mart stores that will be open and ready to sell the book.
About the Amazon question. You will get the book on the 21st, which is the day it comes out, and it wil be probably after 1:00PM. I know this because one of my friends bought the sixth book online and she got it the day it came out around one something PM.
Hope that helped...

Yes. I know for a fact that most Barnes 'N' Nobles start selling at midnight. Several other stores in your area may be doing the same sort of thing, so check 'em out and see if you can pre-order at any of them (I can, at my local Barnes, etc.).
I'm pretty sure Amazon delivers on the 21st or the next day, but, in any case, you'll still get the book faster if you buy at the store the day it's released.
Hope this helped!
