The key here is "comfortable". If you are more comfortable in the company of Eskimos, then go find some Eskimos. Many family members are idiots and self-centered egomaniacs, so it is perfectly reasonable to not want to be with them. However, that being said, understand that when you "need" something, you will have earned no brownie points from the family you didn't want to be around. If you want something out of a family, you've got to put something in. If it's just a matter of "usually wanting to be with strangers", and the family still gets "some" face time, then there is no problem. But, like another responder said, be careful of people you don't know well...they may not be as nice as you think. Go slow, do it in public or where it's safe, and enjoy "your" time with those you want to spend it with.

No, you are not a bad person. Sometimes it feels like other people would understand you more than your friends or your family. But, I've been through some tough times the past few months, and I am not so sure, what I would have done with my family and friends. In a nutshell, your family and friends will always be there for you through though times, so keep that in mind.

I think it depends on why you would desire the company, say picnic or the family picnic than yes you would be a bad person, because family should always come first in this kind of saturation, now if its mandatory that you attend you company, than every one should understand.

No, of course you're not bad for it. This is the difference between friends and family. You pick your friends because you like them, family you just inherit. Sometimes though, your family members become some of your best friends.
