My boyfriend doesn't like sports. He has never been into sports and doesn't watch any sports on TV like most men do (should?). The closest thing to a sport that he participates in is when he works out or goes hiking or jogging. Well I was talking to my mothers friend Brenda (who is wise and experience with relationships), and I was talking to her about this and she insists that men who do not play or participate in sports are gay. She also said that gay men are obsessed with working out, and my boyfriend isn't obsessed but he does work out so she said that is another sign that he is gay.
He doesn't act feminine or girly he acts just like any other straight guy and he has a deep voice, and he certainly isn't into fashion or artistic stuff, so he doesn't seem gay but Brenda insists that he is because he works out a lot and doesn't like sports.
I need a second opinion (or several). Is it true that men who don't sports (but do work out) are gay? What do you think?

BTW I have been with my boyfriend for over 6 months and I never thought that he might be gay, but I trust Brenda because like I said she is wise, and it makes me wonder if he is or not.

Sounds like Brenda is into stereotypes. I know plenty of straight guys who workout - it's called staying healthy and in shape, and keeping that hot bod you like to look at. Hiking and jogging are sports, not team sports, but sports still the same.
Think about this: She is making judgments about a guy she has never met, based on two things - sports and working out! Does that sound reasonable to you? I hope not.
If you are happy together, leave her out of your relationship, and enjoy being with him.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Brenda is not as wise you would like to think she is. Speaking in ignorant generalizations does not make a person wise.
There is no cardinal rule that every straight guy must like sports, especially tv sports. Think about it. Wouldn't it make more sense that gay guys would love watching other men play sports in their tight clothing breaking out into a sweat while they are rubbing up against other tight clothed sweaty men?
And boohoo. Your boyfriend enjoys being fit. Well gee he needs to change is name to Dorothy. I have never heard anything more stupid in my entire life.
Brenda needs to shut up and concentrate on herself a bit more. There is some other agenda behind Brenda for wanting you to break up. It is not your bf's fault that Brenda is a stupid cow.

dont dump him because hes not gay. if hes with you thats a sign that hes not and i like to work out and i dont like sports a whole lot but im not gay. this Brenda woman has a screw loose because most sports really arent that interesting and it might be better for you anyways because that means he'll still look great but he will have more time for you because he wont be caught up watching the game.

Not watching any sports is not a sign of been gay. I have a friend of mine that doesn't know the meaning of that word but all he thinks is about girls and how to get into their pants .
And i don't know why you started to think that your boyfriend is gay, my guess is because he is not that active in bed like he use to be.(with you). Which makes me think that:
1. He is doing something on the side
2.Your sex drive toward him is not the same and every time he has to fight(beg) for it.
3.You gained weight.
4.Maybe he is just looking for something else and you are just filling up in the mean time.

your friend is not as wise as you think. My husband isn't into sports at all and he's 100% straight. just cuz a guy doesn't like sports doesn't mean he's gay. don't dump him but get a new friend who knows more than brenda cuz she doesn't seem that bright.

He is not gay. Some men just aren't into sports... just like some girls aren't into hair & nails. Sports is not a nessecity for all men. Apparently he wants to look good for you, and keep healthy, that doesn't make him gay either. My man doesn't like sports much either. We'll watch an occassional football game or race. And trust me, my man is NOT GAY! lol... so relax, and enjoy him... most women would love to be in your shoes! Now if you catch him sending nekkie pics of himself to other men, then you should start to worry!!

Brenda is an idiot and needs to quit stereotyping people. Am I to assume that since she's female that she should be pregnant, barefoot and in the kitchen, cooking, cleaning and watching soap operas, as well as raising the kids and waiting on her husband hand and foot, and being obedient to him? Of course not. So she shouldn't be so stupid either.

im thinking your friend is too freaking narrow minded. so what if he doesnt play sports? Does that mean that a girl that doesnt have long blonde hair with huge DD breasts and long, manicured nails is a lesbian? My advice? If you really want to keep this guy and you care for him, lose the friend before you lose something that could be great because your friend " has a hunch". ever think that maybe she's jealous of your happiness? I'm gonna give you the answer you need.
Your friend is a trifling cow, and is indeed, not a true friend for giving you such ignorant advice.
I would NOT suggest getting rid of your friend though, as i think you are both well suited.
As for your boyfriend, i would suggest dumping him. You would be doing him a huge favour.
I would suggest education as an answer to any future problems you have in your life.

yea let Brenda tell you that your BF is gay.. you are the one in the relationship you need to ask yourself or better yet talk with him.... Not all men are into sports and all of us should have some form of exercise for our health.............
