Not all motor oils have detergent in them, but most do. It is actually very hard to find a non-detergent motor oil, anymore. Your manual should give you the specs for the type of oil you need and you can see those on the oil container. If in doubt, ask your motorcycle dealer or mechanic which oil they recommend.

It depends what country (or even state) your in. Generally, oils with detergent say they contain detergent and those without, don't say anything. (Read the back of the bottle). No name brand oils, that you buy from Woolworths or Coles, don't normally contain detergent and a good rule of thumb is "the cheaper the better". P.S. you haven't said what you need this oil for? 5W-30 would not be suitable for "running in". Go for a 20W-40 if you can find it.

if u have a wet clutch(sits in oil). then get a oil that is not energy conserving. it will say it on the back. it reduces friction which will cause ur clutch to slip.

You'd have to look pretty hard to find one that's not.
The important items are the weight, (10/w30 eg.),
and the service class, (SE eg.).
