There is more than one language, Moon, and for the most important things wordless language often serves best, for deepest understanding. After all in the most intimate situations words can be superfluous, a distraction, a kind of pretentious stage dressing. And that's where our deepest self is revealed - or the masks and pretensions by which we conceal it (and they are so easily seen through, then, revealing a great deal in the process). So that's where I've found the richest understanding - compared to which the language of words, which I love, is an intellectual side-show, a circus, an exploration of inventions. But in that wordless language I have been lucky enough to explore and discover the world - or at least probably more of it than I deserved on the basis of my mono-lingual English. What joy!

Hi Moon,
I love all the answers above especially Shahbarak's. There is more than one language.
I listen with my heart! We may not share the same language but, regardless of faith and language, we have a lot in common and this helps us understand. I trust my inner guidance, I try to put myself in another person’s shoes and that helps me empathise with others. I also very much believe that people can contact on a psychic level whether or not they are aware of it. I trust my spiritual and psychic instincts.
Just think of our relationships with our pets. We do not share the same language but my dog has no problems communicating with me. We understand each other completely. Verbal communication is not the only language(although thank goodness you speak English as it's the only way we can communicate on-line!!!) but language differences is no barrier in understanding. Isn't it wonderful.

By working together with you. I have worked together with people that spoke different languages than I did on many occasions and we almost always got along fine. We worked out a way to communicate that included a mix of conversation, hand signals, learned routines, and mutual respect. As time went by, we gained more and more facility with each other's language, but that only enhanced the depth of our communication. We were already working together and sharing significant portions of each other's lives.

Use a babblefish! No kidding, there is a program now called babblefish which does the Internet equivalent of what the one in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy did. Put in your language, tell it what language you want it to translate it into, and it will do it. You can send me an email in German, for example, and I can have it translated automatically into English.
I sometimes get spooked at living in the 21st century, doing things I read about in science fiction back in the 1960s.

It is a combination of body language, smiles, handshakes, at least some attempt to speak the other person's language, and a presentation of perhaps a gift from the host nation.

I was explaining to a lady this morning how I really liked the look of her colourful frock .... and she took offence. Of course to me, a frock is a light summer dress. But apparently, forgive my ignorance, it has become a word now exchanged for something one used to say in french but never in mixed company.
We may well speak the same language but cultural differences put their own slant on the meaning. Crickey, What a mess, Mr Hart.

I think us as humans are lucky as we can communicate in many forms, be it verbal, phyiscal, eye contact, sign languge, facail expersions there are many forms. Because of this abilty people who are from different cultures, backgrounds, religions or who are deaf and blind are still able to interact with each other and not become invisable as they are still able to communicate as an indivual in there own uniqe way that we can still understand and learn from.
just because you may speak a different languge doesnt mean that you have to become an alien to others as you can find your own way of communicating. i presume yours is by learning english or am i reading brazilian fluently without realsiing if so crumbs im clever than i thought lol :-)
have a good day moon love the duck ;)

There are a lot of languages, Moon, you don't have to speak them all. People always find ways of communicating with each other if they really want to.
