Why don't people like strange names??? I think if you have a name like Drusilla , or Vennus , or , Delilah, Naiya or for boys Angel, or Crescent , Navarro or another strange name, that you are different and special , but MOST of you don't respect that!!!
MOST of you are business mom's and named your kid Tyler or Lisa or Samantha ! There is nothing wrong with that but you think badly about the people with strange names , shame on you!
PS: please don't write rude comments , I dont think badly of you so please dont judge me!

you are asking a question.................. so i dont feel any answer is rude, its giving your answer, as you see it.
I am a woman that her mother gave her one of those STUPID strange names. I was teased, and made fun of the whole way threw school. I would cry if anyone asked my name because i was ashamed of it. It effected my self esteme. I hated my name and thought my parents hated me to name me a weird name.
A soon as I turned 18 I begged my grandparents to help me change it, and they did............. what you might find cute and "special" now a child that is stuck with the name doesnt agree. Its not cute or special its cruelity.............. I would have gave anything for a normal name.
Why do you feel the need to pin a wierd name on a child ? If you feel the need to sound it out in [ ] then you should know that the child will have to do that their whole life............
I guess you cant understand unless your the kid on the corner crying on the playground because your being made fun of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Email me if u didnt see it lol My name is Tamera Joanne now....... or Tammy J. is how i sign everything............
My sons name is Tyler. When I named him noone i knew was named that he is nearly 16. If i was to have him today i would still chose the same name !!!

Whoever said people don't like strange names?
Not unless the name is so strange it means something bad. But otherwise, people will just stop a while and think of how to remember the name. Most definitely, they will easily remember the owner of the strange name --- this is a plus.

Having a strange name does not make people special. People become special for who they are, if they are nice to others, not by their unusual names.
In my country there are lots of people with unual names and they are in no way better than me or anyone else.
And yes, indeed, a lot of people like strange names. There are lots of examples such as the nicknames brazilian soccer players use.
Having unusual names can be a problem, because most people like to make fun of others with unual names.

It's not that I think badly of you, I just am trying to prevent you from making a mistake. There is nothing wrong with being creative when it comes to names, and I actually prefer creative names. I just don't think you understand that your minor attempts to be creative when naming your child may actually lead to major problems for them one day. For example, if you were to name your child Drusilla, then they would have to spend the rest of their lives correcting people on their pronunciation/spelling of their name. Not fun. My mom's mother gave her a pretty but unusual name, and she does not go a day without correcting someone on it or having to spell it out (even then people do not always get it right). There really is nothing wrong with being creative with names, but save that creativity for your dogs' names, not your children's. It will only make it difficult for them.

My nieces name is Nevaeh and I love it, I believe that is is very exotic and my step daughters name is Raena (although I'm not a big fan) names for children are getting to be more exotic as the generations change. Just remember when you name your kids that what is cute at birth or 10 may not be cute at 40 or 50.

People don't like strange names because they're afraid of anything different, and they never had to grow up as one of several Karen Smiths in their school like I did. I love names that are different! I always ask the correct pronunciation of names on tags at the store and restaurants. Too bad I don't have dozens of kids to name!

It's primarily because some people like to call their kids by nicknames.
For example. A girl by the name of Nicolette might be called Nikki, Nick, Ni or Nicole. Pretty names, right?
If you name your kid Porshia, you might be stuck with calling your kid Porsche. Do you really want to give your kid a silly nickname?
That's the thing with strange names.

My mother gave me an unusual name and I hate it and I will always hate it because nobody can ever pronounce it or spell it, period! I am always correcting someone on something about my name and its exhausting...I just let people call me whatever they want now, forget it! Now my older sister gave her son an unusual name...Deegan!! My poor poor nephew!
Also, to back up tammer on this one, I was also made fun of for my name...it sucked. I haven't changed mine though, I just deal with it. I have thought about changing it many times though. hey, if you don't mind me asking tammer, what did your parents name you and what is your name now?

We're all different and special regardless of our names. You're right, there's nothing wrong with strange names, they're just strange.
