Starting July 1st of 2007 you can no longer put your cellphone up to your ear while driving. You must use speaker phone or hands free device. If your caught talking with a cellphone up to your ear you could face a $365 fine. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up so could save some cash.

Washington has had that law since 2006 and I'm not sure how many other states are cracking down on driver distractions in the car. More deadly than DUI in 2004.

Not much here except weather, which can be a drag. once you are accepted into a law school, look for a place in the vicinity, because the public transportation is nothing like the city... Plus traffic day in and day out, will cause you eventually to take hostages. oh yes... a car is a necessity, a compact that gets good gas milage because Gas is the 3rd highest in the us.. and climbing on a daily basis. one final thing: taxes here are outrageous- sales, income, property etc.

Why $365? A buck a day? Lol. Funny lawmakers who think up these things. Still, I'm glad. Too many people drivin' around with phones to their ears and booze in their brains.

I know your being serious but I have to ask...does that mean women can still put on make up while driving and people can still read? They need to be worrying about those things first.

I knew that. Weird, huh? Considering all the other crazy stuff that goes on in CA, they're worried about cell phones and driving.

I think its a great law because people seem unable to police themselves in this matter.And its not only in california.

Yeah I knew about that. My boyfriend's dad is telling EVERYONE. Thanks for letting us know though. Actually, isn't it next year. My bfs dad was saying this year but my mom heard on the radio its next year. We'll either way, it's good to know
