can anyone give me a link to a site that will help me decipher pagan type runes?
Any extra info is always good, too.

*. . . oh, ye godhs and ancestors . . . *

As a Northern European writing system, runes are "heathen," NOT pagan. And those of us for whom they are an integral part of our indigenous, ancestral folkways would very much appreciate it if neopagans would quit making up silly FLUFF about them.

That said, if you're just looking to use them as an alphabet because they look kewl no one will stop you. The Younger Futhark is somewhat easier than the Elder to transliterate into English.

If you're looking for something else from them, you need to read "Rudiments of Runelore" by Stephen Pollington and the "Voluspa" and "Havamal" poems in the Poetic Edda . . . at least then you'll have the beginnings of a cultural understanding from which to interpret the Rune Poems.

Keep in mind that virtually everything written about the runes by anyone not named either Stephen Pollington or R.I. Page is New Age fluff . . . *especially* the execrable Blum's "Book of Runes."

Can't recommend a web site but there is a book I would recommend. It's called "Rune Power" by Kenneth Meadows, published by Rider Books

What Boar's Heart said, except Edred Thorsson (aka Stephen Flowers) is also good.

Ralph Blum is a hack who knows nothing about the runes, and should not be trusted on any matters runic.

If you are referring to the Elder Futhark, then I would suggest the link below. If you are referring to a different form of runic writing, well I haven't seen any good websites as of yet but I know there are several alphabets in Raymond Buckland's "Complete Book of Witchcraft" (link also below)
