Hi, I will be travelling to Athens & island hopping on the beautiful Greek Islands.

Just wondering if the hotels provide kettle to boil our own drinking water or can we drink directly from the tap?

Also I would like to know how much does a bottle of drinking water, a can of coke, a bottle of beer cost there?

Many thanks to those who answer:D

It is safe to drink tap water in Athens and the islands.

500ml bottle of water -> 0,50€
750ml bottle of water -> 0,70€
1,5lt bottle of water -> 1€

330ml can of Coke -> 0,80€ - 1€
330ml can of beer -> 1€

Those prices are common at kiosks that you will find around Athens and at the islands. In front a tourist site, sometimes those prices differ.
At restaurants you will find the coke 3 - 5€, the bottle of water 1,5lt ~3€, sparkling would be more expensive. A beer at a restaurant would be ~5€ but they might bring the 500ml bottle.

At bars and cafes they always bring glasses of water with anything you have to drink or eat. A coke there will be ~ 5€ a beer will be 5 - 8€.

Hope that helps... :)

You can drink the tap water in Athens, no problem. On the islands, some places don't have so good water. It is not infected, but sometimes it tastes a little funny, so you may have some slight problems if you drink a lot of it (nothing serious though, I guess). It's better to buy bottled water. 0,5lt should cost 0,5 Euro and 1,5 lt like 1 euro or so. Kettles are not provided, because as I said the water is not infected, boiling will not change anything.
As for cokes and beer, it depends where you buy them. If you buy them in a kiosque on the streets it may be 1-2 euro, if you go to a bar it will be more.

By the way, it is illegal to sell the water bottles at higher prices, so beware of scams.

water from the tab is actually drinkable only in Athens, not on the islands.... just to be safe, drink bottled water at all times. as far as the kettle goes, u will find it if u stay at a bungalow equipped with a kitchen. A small bottle of water costs appr. 50 cents while the one (1liter) 1 euro or 1.50... Unfortunately the prices vary according to the area but u should always see "a suggested price" printed on the bottle. Of course, ordering bottled water at a restaurant is more expensive...
A can of coke may cost from 50 cent (in a supermarket) to 2 or more euros (in a cafeteria).
A bottle of beer costs from 1 euro to 5 depending in the place u buy it (supermarket, cafeteria, restaurant or bar)

Tap water is drinkable in Athens, but not on many islands. Whether or not you'll be provided with a kettle depends on the hotel/apartment youu're going to stay at.
Prices of the goods you're asking about also depends on the place of purchase. For example, they're a lot cheaper at big supermarkets. A small bottle of water may cost 0.25-0.50 euro, a can of coke 0.40-1 euro. As for beer depending on the brand you can find cheap (half a euro) or expensive ones.

Water is safe in Greece apart from Heraklion and in some islands. Ask it at the place you decide to visit.
A bottle of water 0.5l costs 0.25cents, a 1l bottle 0.50cents, cokes, fanta, etc about 0.70 cents and beers round 1.00 euro. These prices are of course only for supermarkets and little shops because at archaeological sites the situation is bad you could buy a 0.5l bottle of water 2.00 euro!

Ask what the natives do. If they drink it, then you probably won't have any problems. But, in order to be 100% sure, you may buy table water for cheap (most of the times) prices. 0.50l=0.50Euro, 1.5l=1.00Euro
Just buy it from the supermarkets (Marinopoulos, Veropoulos, Vasilopoulos, Dia, e.t.c.)
