As the guy above me said...The only way to get rid of it is to kill it reseed. As far as i know there isnt anything you can put down on quackgrass. If it is bad you can try to aerate and overseed and then overseed again and again and try to choke it out. But there are certainly no guarantees. That the problem with quackgrass. If its not to bad...kill the spots with round up, add some new topsoil and reseed with a HIGH quality seed. Buying cheap seed will just cause more grassy weeds you dont want.

Quackgrass in VERY difficult to kill. If your entire lawn is infested, kill the lawn and start over, with sod. If there are only patches of quackgrass in the lawn, let it grow about 4-6 inches and then spray with round-up (non-selective herbicide) or something similar. Will it regrow......you bet; this can be alengthy process, so just repeat the above. Or you could cover the patch with black plastic for 1 year.....takes a while, and looks chessy! Having a healthy lawn will discourage this pest.
