Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett were visiting the city where the Tower of Bable stood. Also, the movie is based on language barriers. I have heard theories that the movie is named Babel ironically.

I did not see the movie but I do know the meaning of the word is confusion, so my guess is there is lots of confusion in the movie
